Freedom for Öcalan Vigil enters 399th week

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil has been taking place since 2012.

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil has reached week 399.

This week the Vigil was taken over by a group of activists from Bordeaux. They replaced the group from Lyon.

The activists this week are Sultan Yılmaz, Ayşe Demir, Hasan Kartal and Şirin Yılmaz.

Activists are protesting in front of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, in the area where the Prevention of Torture Committee (CPT) and the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) buildings are. They hand out information about Öcalan and the Kurdish freedom struggle.

This is a black month for Kurds

In the statement made on behalf of the group, it was underlined that February is a "black month" for Kurds. "The whole world should know that the Kurds are no longer the old Kurds. We will not bow and we will resist until our Leader is free. Kurds will be free when Öcalan is freed."
