Freedom for Öcalan Vigil reached week 384

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil reached week 384. The action is being carried out in Strasbourg, and this week has been taken over by a group from Denmark.

Launched on 25 June 2012 in front of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil will continue until Öcalan is liberated.

The action has been going on for almost 8 years, and continues with new groups of activists taking it over every week.

Last week, a group of activists from Berlin took over the Vigil while this week a group of activists from Denmark have reached Strasbourg.

Ömer Harmancı, Mustafa A. Dilek ve Yaşar Kaya have taken over the Vigil since last Sunday and have sharply criticized the Council of Europe and the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) for their silence about the isolation imposed on Öcalan.

The activists underlined that no news of Öcalan have been learned since lawyers are not allowed, once again, to meet with him.

In their statement the activists reiterated that the Kurdish people will continue the Vigil despite the hard time the Kurdish people is going through and that Kurds will continue the action until Öcalan is freed.
