Freedom for Öcalan Vigil taken over by Sachsen activists

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil reached week 385. The action is being carried out in Strasbourg, and this week has been taken over by a group from Denmark.

Launched on 25 June 2012 in front of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil will continue until Öcalan is liberated.

The action has been going on for almost 8 years, and continues with new groups of activists taking it over every week.

Last week a group from Denmark had taken over the Vigil while this week Three Kurds from Sachsen, Germany, have come to Strasbourg.

Haci Murat Zer, Mahmut Cicek and Muhammad Emin Ari, the new group of activists, said that the whole Kurdish people is concerned about the isolation conditions imposed on Öcalan.

Noting that there has been again no news about Öcalan in a period of great turmoil in the Middle East, the group said: "We call on all the competent institutions in Europe: listen to the voice of the Kurdish people. A people and a leader cannot be ignored."

In their statement the activists reiterated that the Kurdish people will continue the Vigil despite the hard time the Kurdish people is going through and that Kurds will continue the action until Öcalan is freed.

The group also called on all Kurds to join the seven years action which has seen so far the participation of over 2000 Kurdish activists.
