Today is the fifth day of the Long March, which began on 21 January as part of the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan Solution to the Kurdish Question" initiative.
On the fourth day, a public meeting was held at the Rennes Democratic Kurdish Cultural Association with the participation of Long March Organizing Committee members Saniye Tunç and Cuma Tak. In the meeting, the public was informed about the general process, the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, Solution to the Kurdish Question Initiative" and the 26-day Long March that began within the scope of this initiative.
On the third day, diplomatic activities, a march, and a public meeting were held in Nantes. At the public meeting organized at the Nantes Democratic Kurdish Cultural Association, with the participation of initiative committee members Cuma Tak, Mehmet Dağ, and Saniye Tunç, the conditions leading to the emergence of the Kurdish Freedom Movement, Abdullah Öcalan, the movement’s struggle perspectives, and the general objectives of the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, Solution to the Kurdish Question" initiative were discussed.
Freedom can only be achieved through women’s liberation
The speakers emphasized that one of Abdullah Öcalan’s most significant projects is the philosophy of women’s liberation. They stated: "Abdullah Öcalan, while analyzing society, recognized the critical role of women and declared that the first oppressed and exploited class is women. He asserted that if the system is to be dismantled and a truly free life is to be built, it must be achieved through women’s liberation. Today, the greatest force of the Rojava Revolution is women. It was women who defeated ISIS. The most dynamic structure of the free life created in Rojava is women. If we are to achieve freedom, it can only be realized through women’s liberation."
We must advance the Freedom Initiative to achieve victory
Touching on the objectives of the Long March, the speakers stated: “We initiated a 26-day march as part of the Freedom Initiative. The purpose of the march is to strengthen the initiative and bring it to a point where results can be achieved. In this context, the march involves diplomatic meetings, distributing leaflets during the walk to engage in public diplomacy, holding public meetings, and conducting various activities to both convey the truth of Abdullah Öcalan and explain the initiative. The goal is to involve every segment of society and achieve tangible results. The process we are currently in involves safeguarding the gains in Rojava, securing Rojava’s status, and achieving the freedom of all of Kurdistan.
To realize all of this, the initiative must succeed, and the physical freedom of Abdullah Öcalan must be achieved. The Turkish state, finding itself cornered, has been brought to Abdullah Öcalan’s doorstep by his resistance, the guerrillas’ resistance, and the resistance of our people. In this period, it is the primary duty of every Kurd, every revolutionary, and every defender of democracy to grow the struggle and strengthen Abdullah Öcalan’s hand. In this context, we call on everyone to join the action and march in Strasbourg on 15 February.”
