The funeral of the two brothers who lost their life after being attacked by armed relatives of AKP candidate in Suruç yesterday were attacked on Friday by police.

As the never-ending story of impunity in Turkey for AKP and their mercenaries, on Friday the families of Celal and Adil Şenyaşar were subjected to further pain, when trying to bury their beloved.

It is understood that police attacked with TOMA tanks the thousands who were trying to enter the local graveyard where the two brothers were going to be buried.

The bodies of the two brothers had been taken from Antep to Suruç and thousands of their friends and compatriots wanted to join the funeral service but were attacked by police. Gas bombs and water cannon were used against the crowd.

What happened in Suruç on Thursday?

According to eye witnesses and human rights defenders, AKP parliamentary candidate İbrahim Halil Yıldız went to Hacı Esvet Şenyaşar’s shop to ask for votes as part of his election campaign on Thursday.

The same shopkeeper had been subjected to pressure by AKP members in previous days. When Şenyaşar told Yıldız that no votes will be given to the AKP there, the candidate’s brother slapped Esvet Şenyaşar’s brother Celal Şenyaşar, and gun shots were fired.

As the result of the shooting and subsequent violent attacks by the AKP candidate’s relatives, 7 people died, 2 of them being in the assailant’s group.
