Funeral turns into battlefield - UPDATE

The funeral of HPG (People's Defense Forces) guerrilla Sadýk Kaya (Rojhat) turned into a war field when police arrested at least 120 people attending the ceremony.

Kaya lost his life in a clash in Pazarcýk (province of Maraþ).

He was to be buried in Mersin, Güneykent graveyard, but the last farewell turned into a battlefield with police on the rampage assaulting the people attending the ceremony.

The police attacked the crowd with tear gas and arrested 120 people, including BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) local president Cihan Yýlmaz.

While 66 of the detainees were released by the Security Directorate of Mersin at late night hours, other 54 detainees, including BDP local president Cihan Yýlmaz, are still held in custody at Police Department. Detainees will reportedly be referred to court tomorrow.
