Gemlik sealed off while detentions continue

After forbidding permission to march to Gemlik, police has also set up road blocks and check points at the entrance of the area. Many convoys had already been stopped yesterday. Indeed people from Van, Hakkari, Diyarbakýr could not take the road because of the heavy control and repression.

The march for Öcalan so could not take place as staged as the government shows once more it can't bear having people on the streets protesting its policy or asking for their rights.

As BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) officials say, once more "the legitimate request of the Kurds have been ignored and indeed suffocated even before they were told".

In this context, detentions and arrests continue. In Hakkari 17 people have been taken into custody this morning, while in Mersin the number of people remanded in custody rose to 44.
