Kurdish activists Cemal Kobane, Omer Bagdur, Mele Mustafa Tuzak and Siyar Xelil continue the Germany leg of the hunger strike resistance demanding an end to the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan. The protest continues in the NAV-DEM offices in Berlin and various groups continue to visit the activists.

Lawyer Heike Geisweid was among the most recent visitors and said everybody should support the resistance against the isolation and make this voice heard. The German lawyer came to Berlin from Bochum and said she has been taking Kurdish refugees’ cases for a long time and that she is closely acquainted with the legal struggles Kurds have waged.

Geisweid said there is great injustice in Turkey and continued: “There is also great resistance against this great injustice. I salute the hunger strikers and death fasters. I condemn the Turkish state’s isolation policy and the European Union’s, member states’ and the mainstream media’s silence in the face of this injustice.

“ISOLATION IS A VIOLATION OF THE DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS”

German lawyer Geisweid pointed out that the isolation imposed upon Ocalan in Imrali goes against the universal declaration of human rights and said: “Those who remain silent in the face of Turkey’s violation are seen to fail their duties against their own laws as well.”

Geisweid said the Federal German Government and EU countries should take the resistance against Turkey’s disregard for the law on their agenda and said: “As human beings, we must say stop the deaths. As you can see now, the situation is dire. I hope the isolation ends as soon as possible.”

The health of Cemal Kobane, Omer Bagdur, Mele Mustafa Tuzak and Siyar Xelil has severely deteriorated but they are determined to continue their protest. Tuzak is on day 125 of his hunger strike, while Xelil is on day 112, and Kobane and Bagdur are on day 109.
