Google accepts only one percent of Turkey’s request for user info

The company has released its transparency report for 2019.

Google accepted only one percent of Turkey's requests for user information in the second half of 2019 whereas it disclosed some information upon 74 percent of the requests from all countries in the same period, according to the company's transparency report.

"A variety of laws allow government agencies around the world to request user information for civil, administrative, criminal, and national security purposes," Google stated. "In this report, we share information about the number and type of requests we receive from government agencies."

Turkey made a total of 1,037 requests for disclosure of user information regarding 1,272 accounts in the last year. The percentage of requests resulted in Google disclosing at least some information was zero in the first half of the year and one in the second half.

Also, Turkey has only submitted two diplomatic requests since 2010, both of which were in the first half of 2019.
