Green Left Party fields more female candidates than any other party

For the 14 May parliamentary elections, 193 female candidates have been fielded by the Green Left Party, 161 by TIP, 153 by CHP, 145 by IYI Party, 113 by AKP and 73 by MHP.

Political parties have submitted their lists of deputy candidates for the 14 May elections to the Supreme Election Board (YSK). The ruling AKP and its partner MHP, which tolerate femicides, harassment and rape cases, ignored women in their candidate lists.

40 percent of the candidates of the Green Left Party, which adopts the so-called zipper system, are women. Women’s candidacy stands at 26 percent in the CHP list, 19 percent in the AKP, and 12 percent in the MHP.

NO ROOM FOR WOMEN WITHIN THE PEOPLE’S ALLIANCE!

Only 113 women were included in the list of 600 parliamentary candidates submitted by the AKP. THE AKP’s ally, MHP, listed only 73 women to be nominated. While 18.83 percent of AKP candidates are women, MHP’s women candidates stand at 12.16 percent.

NO ZIPPER SYSTEM FOR THE NATION ALLIANCE

The list submitted by the Republican People's Party (CHP) includes 580 candidates. Only 153 of these candidates are women. 145 of the candidates of the IYI Party, which listed 385 candidates, are women. While 26.37 percent of the CHP candidates are women, the IYI Party’s women candidates stand at 37.66 percent.

GREEN LEFT PARTY FIELDS 40 PERCENT WOMEN CANDIDATES

The Party of Greens and the Left Future (Green Left Party) adopted a zipper system in their lists. Out of 490 Green Left Party candidates, 193 are women, with 39.38 percentage.

Of the 398 candidates listed by the Workers Party of Turkey (TIP), which is a member of the Labour and Freedom Alliance, 161 are women.
