The Green Left Party accelerated its electoral work in Sweden and held a public meeting in Malmö with the participation of former HDP MP Ahmet Yıldırım and Tove Karnerud from the Swedish Left Party.
A public meeting was held in Malmö, Sweden's third largest city, for the 14 May elections. The meeting was promoted by the Skone People's Assembly. Former HDP MP Ahmet Yıldırım and Swedish Left Party executive Tove Karnerud attended the meeting.
The importance of the 14 May elections was discussed and Ahmet Yıldırım stated that these elections are of historical importance not only for the Kurds but for all the peoples of Turkey. Emphasizing that the Kurds must exist with their own status and identity in Turkey's second century, Yıldırım said that for the Kurds to play their role and be an alternative, they must come out of the elections with a strong victory.
Tove Karnerud, from the Swedish Left Party, conveyed messages of solidarity to the Green Left Party and the Kurdish people on behalf of his party. Karnerud said that they are against the process and the dirty negotiations between Sweden and Turkey over the Kurds and added that they will continue to stand by the Kurdish people.
