Ayten Dönmez, the Kocaeli candidate of the Greens and Left Future Party (Green Left Party), was taken into custody on Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday night, the party candidate was sent to prison.

This detention coincided with the political genocide operations targeting Kurds in 21 cities, including Amed, carried out on 25 April.

At least 126 people, mostly journalists, artists, lawyers, politicians, trade unionists and members of civil society, were detained.
