Green Left Party ready for May 14 elections in Australia and Canada

The Green Left Party Overseas Election Coordination is continuing its election campaign in Australia and Canada.

The Green Left Party is continuing to campaign in Australia and Canada for the May 14 elections in Turkey and North Kurdistan. The party has also completed training for election security.

CANADA

In Canada, the Green Left Party is continuing its electoral campaign in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Vancouver. The campaign has been dealing with voter address declarations and new voter registrations, election information over social media and home visits. Public meetings and events were held in many places. Vehicles are hired to take voters to polling stations.

Training for the observers was also completed in order to monitor vote counting and election safety.

AUSTRALIA

Voting in Australia will begin on April 29 and end on May 7. Polling stations can be found in the cities of Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. Voters may go to a total of 5 ballot boxes, 2 on weekdays and 3 on weekends.

COMMISSIONS ESTABLISHED

The Green Left Party Australian Election Coordination came together on March 13 and launched the election campaign. Coordination components established several commissions: Voter Registration Commission, Transportation Commission, Communications Commission with Different Ethnic and Faith Groups, and Social Activities Commissions.

TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE

According to the information provided by the Election Coordination, voters were registered on the foreign electoral roll on the website of the Supreme Election Council (YSK). As part of these efforts, vehicles were hired to bring voters in remote areas (Wollongogng, Newcastle and Griffith) to the consulate for registration.

The Democratic Kurdish Community Centre (DKTM) remained open during the registration process to help voters there.

VEHICLES READY FOR VOTERS

The Green Left Party Australian Election Coordination will also provide transportation services to carry the voters to the polling stations when the elections will kick off on April 29. The vehicles will carry the voters to the polling stations twice a day.

Moreover, the Coordination, in cooperation with the Sydney Democracy Platform (SDP) formed by other opposition parties/groups, hired vehicles to transport voters to the polls in Blacktown, Granvill and Maryland counties. These vehicles will carry the voters to the polling stations twice a day.

In cooperation with the Sydney Democracy Platform, the Green Left Party Australian Election Coordination carried out an online campaign including other media platforms to inform voters as part of the election propaganda activities.

SOLIDARITY EVENTS

The Australian Election Coordination organized various social events for voters as part of the campaign. The NSW Democratic Kurdish Community organized a fast-breaking dinner event. Public meetings were also held.

Apart from home visits, a solidarity event and a picnic event were organized as part of the election activities. The Green Left Party Solidarity event held in Lidcombe was attended by the Head of the CHP Australia Office, the Socialist Alliance, the Sydney International PEN, the Tamil Community, the KOKNI Sydney Muslim Union, as well as representatives of different Australian groups and communities.

The Australian Election Coordination will have officials who have the right to appeal at the polling stations. Furthermore, the assignment of observers to all polling stations has been completed. Trainings were offered to party observers.
