According to Turkish officials, a delegation headed by Hashd al-Shaabi leader Fateh al-Fayyad met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Ankara today.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry briefly announced the meeting, but gave no details.

The meeting comes as the Turkish state has been stepping up its diplomacy in the region for some time.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Head of the National Intelligence Organization Ibrahim Kalın and Defense Minister Yaşar Güler have recently visited Baghdad and Hewlêr (Erbil) and met with officials.
