A unity of the oppressed nations and peoples and the oppressed classes and women is the most urgent task, said the HBDH in its message marking the Kurdish New Year Newroz.
The Peoples' United Revolutionary Movement (HBDH) released a statement to mark the Newroz festival, saying, “Newroz areas should become areas where the united revolution of Turkey and Kurdistan will be built together.”
“We are celebrating Newroz by embracing the revolutionary and rebellious spirit of March 8, the will of March 12, which marks the declaration of the united revolution, and the anger of the Halabja massacre. Happy Newroz to the oppressed working people, women, united revolutionary guerrillas and militias, especially the Kurdish people,” the statement said.
“The Newroz has historically been one of the symbols of the struggle between the oppressors and the oppressed peoples. For the Kurdish people, it is not just a festival. It is the day of struggle and resistance against enslaving and colonial systems.
“Attacks serving to deny the collective rights of the Kurdish people, to destroy their national existence and the will for a dignified life are continuing without mercy. Still, the fire of resistance inherited from Kawa the Blacksmith is rekindled in the hands of the Kurdish people, Kurdish women, the guerrillas and militias for the united struggle in Kurdistan. The desire for a free life has been crowned with a democratic, egalitarian, pro-women popular revolution in Rojava against denial, colonial persecution and occupation.
While Newroz was previously a threshold for the Kurdish people to gain their right to exist, it has currently become a tipping point to destroy fascism and build a united revolution for the working people and oppressed peoples of Kurdistan and Turkey.
The united women's will that emerged on March 8, 2022 was a strong response to the male-dominated system, male state terrorism and AKP/MHP fascism. The Newroz celebrations that have started days before and the mass rallies will also disclose the power of national freedom and struggle for equality against colonialism, assimilation and the fascist system that ignores the Kurdish people.
Newroz areas should become areas where the united revolution of Turkey and Kurdistan will be built together. Newroz events should give room to the possibility of raising the united struggle of peoples, oppressed classes, sexual identities and women. A unity of the oppressed nations and peoples and the oppressed classes and women is the most urgent task.”
