HCE calls for participation in the demonstration for Shengal

The Yazidi Youth Alliance HCE calls for participation in a two-day demonstration from Celle to Hannover. The long march will start on Friday and take place as a solidarity action for the Yazidi settlement area Shengal.

On Friday, a two-day demonstration will begin in Celle, Germany on the occasion of the Lower Saxony state parliament in Hannover. With the demonstration, Yazidis want to demand a political status for the Yazidi settlement Shengal in Southern Kurdistan and protest against the attacks of Turkey.

After the council of the Yazidis from Shengal in Europe (MŞD), the alliance of the Yazidi youth (Hevgirtina Ciwanên Êzîdî, HCE) also calls for participation in the action, saying:

"Let us raise our voices together against the Turkish state and show that Shengal is not alone. Let us together support the families back home and give them strength and security. Together we will give the Turkish state an answer to the many air raids in the Shengal area. As a sign of our solidarity with the Yazidis in Shengal, we have organized this two-day march together with other Yazidi communities and associations. On July 17th, 2020 we will start at the New Town Hall in Celle at 10 am and march to Spittaplatz in Burgdorf. On 18 July 2020 we will meet at 10 a.m. at the Stadtpark in Lehrte and march to the Landtag in Hannover. Afterwards there will be a rally.

Under no circumstances will we accept attacks that are contrary to international law. To enable a life without fear at home, we raise our voices. We want to show the European countries and the Turkish state that we are the answer to the attacks. Because we will not let ourselves be defeated, but we will resist and stand up against the Turkish state by taking to the streets, raising our voices and reclaiming our rights. This includes our right to freedom of religion and culture in all aspects."
