The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) has expressed its congratulations on the occasion of the Basque People's National Day "Aberri Eguna" on Easter Sunday.
With a message on Twitter, HDP deputy parliamentary party leaders Meral Danış Beştaş and Saruhan Oluç congratulated the Basque people and expressed their solidarity.
Traditionally, Aberri Eguna is celebrated in the Basque Country with mass demonstrations. The day was first celebrated in 1932 in Bilbao and has developed over time into a day of mobilisation to demand the rights of the Basque people. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the demonstrations are cancelled this year.
