Fierce clashes broke out between YPG/YPJ (People's/Women's Defense Units) and ISIS gangs that targeted Kobanê with consecutive suicide car attacks using Turkish soil in the Mürşitpınar crossing area along the border with West Kurdistan, Rojava, early yesterday morning.
The ISIS attacks that followed the suicide attacks were repulsed as YPG/YPJ fighters strongly responded to them, after which some militants of theirs sheltered back in the building of wheat silos of the TMO (soil products office) very close to the border gate where they are seen to be based and attacking Kobanê from. Some other members of the gangs fled to the eastern front of Kobanê.
The gangs launched another armed attack in the border crossing area early Saturday evening.
HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) deputy İbrahim Ayhan who met Turkish authorities has been an eye witness to the attacks of ISIS gangs along the Turkish border. Ayhan said that; "The Kobanê Canton has started to take security measures at the scene of suicide bombings that were carried out with vehicles ISIS members brought in from the Turkish side. Turkish authorities thereupon wanted the YPG to empty the area of their units. During our talks, we were told that the security measures will remain until the area is cleansed of ISIS gangs. We see that the gangs have crossed the border and are openly carrying out an attack. Turkish state officials must ensure the repulse of the ISIS gangs from this region where thousands of Turkish soldiers are deployed. The security of life of our citizens living in border villages in Suruç is being endangered."
