HDP election bureau in Esenler, Istanbul attacked

Yet another attack on the HDP before the local elections scheduled for March 31 in Turkey.

The election bureau of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in the neighborhood of Fatih in Istanbul’s Esenler district was attacked late last night. The assailants broke into the bureau and tore all banners and flags of the party.

HDP Esenler district co-mayoral candidate Celal Alphan said the following; “It is obvious that the attack was caused by the poisonous language used by President Erdoğan and Ankara. Other parties do not face any such attack when they open an election bureau. They are protected by the police during the opening.  However, when we do the same, we never see the same scenes. The attitude manigested by the police during the opening yesterday, was an indication that this attack would take place.”
