HDP MP in Strasbourg: Let's give the voice to the resistance

Voicing his belief that the resistance will succeed, Koç said that Turkish revolutionaries, left, and socialists should join in this resistance.

HDP Istanbul MP Musa Piroglu and the spokesman of the Revolutionary Party-Europe, Hüseyin Ataş visited the 14 Kurdish activists on hunger strike in Strasbourg.

The delegation was welcomed by hunger striker and co-chair of the Kurdish Democratic Society Congress (KCDK-E) Yüksel Koç.

Speaking to ANF in the course of the visi,t Musa Piroğlu underlined how the resistance led by HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven is for democracy, peace and freedom in Turkey and has been joined by thousands of prisoners.

Emphasizing that the Imralı system has been crystallized by the State's policies of repression for years. Piroğlu added that the policies of war together with isolation are the main feature of the Turkish State’s policies.

The economic crisis comes from the policies of war

Musa Piroğlu remarked that the economic crisis in Turkey is actually coming from the policies of war by the State.

The HDP deputy stressed that the rights of the laborers were transferred to war and that the war caused not only economic but also humanitarian destruction.

Call to be the voice of the resistance

Recalling that war means the death of thousands of Turkish and Kurdish young people, the Istanbul MP said that the policies of war should be reverted.

Musa Piroğlu said he had visited Leyla Güven in Amed and now the 14 activists in Strasbourg and added: “When we raised our voice, we succeeded in giving voice to the resistance; in fact, together with isolation and war policies we will bring the Palace policies of hostility towards Kurds to an end.”

Their demand is our demand

Recalling the words of Leyla Güven, Musa Piroğlu said: “The demand of the hunger strikers is our demand. We must be their voice, this is our responsibility and duty. Because, their voice is our voice; their breath is our breath. We will be with them, we will continue to be right beside them to carry out this struggle.”

Koç: Everyone should play their role

Hunger strikers and KCDK-E co-chair Yüksel Koç reiterated the determination of all activists and stressed that conscientious, revolutionary, democratic and socialist people should struggle in all areas.

Noting that the local election process is underway, Koç underlined that the conditions for the defeat of AKP-MHP fascism on 31 March were more appropriate than ever. Adding that the municipalities are appointed by the will of the people, Koç said that the victory in the local elections would be an important achievement for all peoples.

Finally Koç pointed out the necessity of the continuation of the local election struggle as well as the need to continue the resistance against isolation, especially in prisons.
