HDP MP Tayyip Temel, who has been on a hunger strike for 56 days protesting the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan, pointed to the death fast 15 political prisoners have gone on and said, “It is now hours, not days, that bring deaths closer.”
As thousands of people continue their hunger strikes, the protest has entered a new phase as 15 political prisoners went on a death fast on April 30.
HDP MP Tayyip Temel pointed to the death fast 15 prisoners launched and criticized the silence of the government and the public.
Temel posted the following on his social media account: “It is now hours, not days, that being the 15 closer to death. The most horrifying death is starvation. Without understanding why those prisoners took on such a price to pay, you cannot solve any of this country’s issues. No government or opposition can stand against a body wasting away. Intellectuals, artists and politicians can’t run from the conscientious responsibility.”
