A delegation of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) paid a visit to the Libyan Future Movement Party.
According to a statement by the HDP Press Office, a delegation consisting of HDP Deputy Co-Chair and Co-Spokesperson of Middle East Affairs, Tülay Hatimoğulları, and Deputy Co-Chair Mehmet Tiryaki visited Libya on the invitation of the Libyan Future Movement Party.
During the visit to Benghazi, the HDP delegation held talks with Libyan Future Movement Party leader and former Foreign Minister, Dr. Abdelhadi Al-Hwaij, and party officials.
The importance of peace, brotherhood and solidarity between the peoples of the two countries was emphasized during the meeting, according to the statement.
It is reported that the HDP delegation visited the monument of Omar al-Mukhtar, a prominent leader of the Libyan independence struggle, after a series of meetings.
Furthermore, a meeting was held with a group of Libyan intellectuals, writers, politicians and academics at the Centre for Peacebuilding and Crisis Management.
During the meeting, participants addressed the withdrawal of all foreign military forces from Libya, an urgent peace establishment, and self-determination of the Libyan people by holding elections on a democratic basis.
During the meeting, Libyan politicians said that the brotherhood of the peoples of Turkey and Libya is long-standing, that the Turkish government should not take sides in the Libyan turmoil, and that their expectation from Turkey is to serve Libyan peace by respecting the integrity of Libya.
According to the HDP delegation, Libyan politicians called for Turkey to withdraw its forces and mercenaries from Libya.
