HDP women: Kurdish workers are killed because of AKP's policies

HDP Women's Council stated that the policies of the AKP and Erdoğan's Palace is the reason why Kurdish seasonal worker Perihan Akin was killed in a racist attack.

The Women's Council of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) issued a written statement on the murder of Perihan Akin in a fascist attack while she was at work in Samsun city in the Black Sea region.

The statement said: "Seasonal agricultural labour, a historical, socio-economic phenomenon, has become a fundamental problem of the country. If one assesses the ethnical, social, gender and class related aspects of the seasonal labour, it will become evident that this is the result of a conscious state policy."

HDP Women's Council reminded of the latest victim, seasonal worker Perihan Akin from Urfa's Viranşehir district who lost her life as result of a fascist attack in the Bafracalı neighborhood of Samsun's Terme district, saying; “This attack that targeted the womanhood, Kurdish identity, labour and working power of Perihan Akin does not differ from the state policies of the AKP and Erdoğan's Palace.”

The council stated that the killing of Perihan Akin was carried out on purpose and the one primarily responsible for this planned attack was the AKP government.

HDP Women's Council said: "Women will continue their struggle against these political and planned attacks and will not remain silent on the assault that killed Perihan Akin. We will pursue this case in political, social and legal levels.

We call on all women to strengthen their struggle and raise their voice against the patriarchal state policies, that are anti-labour, gender based and fascistic, and against all kinds of attacks."
