Head of BDP Dersim branch detained

Head of Peace and Democracy Party's Dersim branch is detained by Turkish police after a Turkish court ordered his arrest.

Malatya High Criminal Court ordered arrest of Suat Demir for his attendance to a gathering to protest Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan's capture 11 years ago.

Demir was detained by Turkish police today in Dersim and sent to Malatya to appear before court.

On the other hand Turkish police detained 16 Kurds in Siirt after the attack against a police car which killed an officer.

Locals say two of the detained were subjected to torture during detention. They are expected to appear before court tomorrow.
