Hearing of HDP’s Demirtaş scheduled for tomorrow

The former HDP co-chair and presidential candidate faces a prison sentence of up to 142 years.

The next hearing of the trial of HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) former co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş, held hostage in Edirne prison, will be held tomorrow, Wednesday at Ankara 19th High Criminal Court.

A hall at the Sincan Prison Campus will be used for the hearing.

Demirtaş did not participate in the previous hearing on 18 July 2018 due to pretexts used by the Court.

Demirtaş, should he attend tomorrow's hearing, will evaluate the case and accusation against hime and former HDP deputy Sırrı Süreyya Önder.

This will be Demirtaş's first hearing after the June 24 elections.

The former HDP co-chair and former presidential candidate, is accused of having set up and manage  a terrorist organization and having made propaganda for such organization and faces a prison sentence of up to 142 years.
