Hewler agreement unites Kurds of Syria

People’s Assembly (Meclîsa Gel) and Kurdish National Council (Encumena Nîþtîmanî ya Kurdî li Sûriyeyê-ENKS) signed the “Hewler Agreement” which aims to ensure the unity of Kurds in West Kurdistan.

The two organizations decided to establish a High Kurdish Council to represent West Kurdistan people in national and international area and called for “popular revolution through peaceful ways to overthrow Baas regime”.

The agreement was signed by the representatives of both organizations after a meeting with KRG President Massoud Barzani and a series of talks with many parties and organizations in South Kurdistan.

Giving information about the details of the agreement to ANF, People’s Assembly Co-President Ebdulselam Ehmed remarked that the agreement was based on the alliance which was formed between two organizations in Hewler six months ago. Ehmed said that the High Kurdish Council will consist of three expert committees on National and Foreign Affairs, Public Services and Security. The three committees will consist of five members from each of two organizations and open branches in all provinces, districts and villages in West Kurdistan.

We aim to ensure that the peoples in Syria overthrow the Baas regime and establish a democratic system which will also recognize Kurdish people’s rights in the new constitution, noted the Co-President of People’s Assembly and added that; “Our purpose is to ensure a unity for the solution of the Kurdish problem and political conflicts as well as fulfilling the demands of our people in Syria.”

The joint declaration by People’s Assembly and ENSK underlined that the mentioned committees will be established within the next two weeks in accordance with the seven point agreement.
