People’s Defense Forces (HPG) guerrillas shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle the Turkish army has been using against guerrillas.
The reconnaissance air vehicle with anti-aircraft batteries was shot down by guerrillas in Ertuþ area of Zap region in Media Defense Areas. The images reached by ANF show the UAV all in pieces.
UAVs have been closely followed by guerrillas in the recent term when reconnaissance aircrafts have been featured by the army on Turkey-South Kurdistan borderline.
Giving information about the guerrilla action against the aircraft, HPG guerrilla Xebat Cizre said the followings; “The activity of the Turkey made reconnaissance aircraft was realized last year by some guerrillas who have taken no action against it until it drew near to them and got within their range. The air vehicle which went into pieces has been found by a group of guerrillas in the field the previous day.”
Remarking that the Turkish state has been conducting a war against guerrilla on the basis of some basic technics, Xebat Cizre noted that the home product reconnaissance aircraft, called Bayraktar, is one of the technics mainly used against the guerrilla. Bayraktar, which is not as strong as those produced by Israel and America, was followed by the production of another type of reconnaissance aircraft which is called Anka, noted Xebat Cizre.
The purpose of these air vehicles is to see the movement of guerrillas who fight against many of this kind of air vehicles, with each military post having a few reconnaissance aircrafts. Soldiers don’t leave their posts, they send these aircrafts on us instead, added Xebat Cizre.
