Houses set on fire by village guards

Houses and workplaces of BDP members and many aldermen were set on fire following the death of village guard Hacý Alan as a result of an armed attack in Taslica village of Karlýova.

While tension continues in Karlýova district of Bingöl since the death of village guard head Hacý Alan, village guards, using Alan's death as an excuse, brought damage to BDP district office, Karlýova Municipal services building and many houses and workplaces of BDP members and supporters. The points of entry and exit of the district have been restrained.

Karliova Mayor Ferit Celik, remarking that he himself was also threatened with death by village guards who came to the district center soon after the event, said the followings; "The state needs to examine the event whose perpetrators are not unknown to us. The attack could also be a provocation but the only target is to make an end of the BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) in Karlýova district where citizens have now locked themselves in their houses. Despite my notification about the event to a deputy who told me that the Interior Ministry has taken steps in the direction, still no concrete steps have been taken in the district."

Noting that gunshots are rising from the district, Yýldýrým continued as follows; "We have also been trapped in a house as none of us has a security of life now. People in the district are not allowed to go outside but village guards are all outside. We have already informed the Police Headquarters and asked for security. They told us that Action Forces have been sent to the district but still nobody has come here. Houses of many aldermen and workplaces are plundered and set on fire. Besides, all these events happen before the eyes of the governor who has already arrived in the district some time ago."
