HPG claims responsibility for pipe line explosions

People’s Defense Forces Press Office HPG-BÝM announced that the three explosions that hit the Kirkuk-Yumurtalýk oil pipeline between Iraq and Turkey’s Mediterranean coast on 5 April occurred as a result of an action carried out by guerrilla forces.

The HPG statement on the action said that; “The explosions in the pipe line caused a great damage and oil flow as well as fires that continued for a long time after the action.”

Following the pipe line explosions at around 03.00 on 5 April night, Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAÞ) had to close the pipe line valves while trying to extinguish the fires.
