The remains of HPG guerrilla Mazlum Şener (Diren Amed), who fell as a martyr in the clashes that broke out on 9 August in Elkê rural area of Şirnak, were given to his family after a wait of 4 months. After the DNA matched, the family took the body from the cemetery of the nameless at Afet Residences in the center of Şirnal and buried it in Yeniköy Cemetery in Rêzan (Bağlar), in the province of Amed.
The police blockaded the cemetery before the burial and prevented the executives of the Mesopotamia Assistance Solidarity and Culture Association with the Families of the Lost Relatives (MEBYA-DER), representatives of civil society organizations and political parties from attending the funeral ceremony. Only his family was allowed to attend the funeral.
