Reports are coming through of a huge explosion near the General Staff office in Turkish capital Ankara after Turkish Armed Forces declared on state-run TRT TV that the power has been seized.

The explosion in the central Kızılay district was followed by an intensified aerial activity.

On the other hand, tanks deployed at Atatürk Boulevard opened fire on groups gathering in the area. The results of the shooting couldn't be verified amid reports of injuries.
