Hunger striker Akın: Hand in hand, isolation will be broken

“We call on our people to take to the streets. It is the activism of our people that will keep us alive and strong. We invite you to embrace this resistance."

Sedat Akın, who continues the hunger strike in his house in Batman after being released from prison in Elazığ, is on the 59th day of fast demanding the end of isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Sedat Akın urged the people to reclaim the resistance in a video message he published today.

Akın's message is as follows:

"First of all, I greet friends resisting in prison and outside, in Europe. I wish them success in their struggle.

Taking part in such a sacred action gives morale and joy for all of us. I'm on my 59th day of hunger strike today. I am happy to be carrying out a sacred action initiated by Heval (Comrade) Leyla with the other comrades. My morale is good. As long as the Kurdish People's Leader is Abdullah Öcalan is in question, we can all say that we will stand tall and walk happily on this path.

The end of isolation against our Leader, the opening of a dialogue; visits by lawyers and family: this is our demands.”

Sedat Akın continued: “These demands are not merely the demands of the Kurdish people but of anyone who calls himself a democrat, a socialist, peace lover.

We invite everyone to this action.

Our request from our people is to raise their voice to put an end to isolation. Raise your voice before the news of martyrdom comes from prisons. Isolation is applied to all the Kurdish people and the society in Turkey. We should be able to break this isolation together. We believe that hand in hand, we will break this isolation.”

Call to people

Sedat Akın thanked the people who come to visit him and ended his message by saying:

From here I send greetings to Heval Leyla, Nasir and our comrades in Europe.”
