Siyar Xelil will continue his protest in Berlin after 62 days of indefinite nonalternating hunger striking in Nuremberg.
Siyar Xelil has been on an indefinite nonalternating hunger strike in the Medya People’s House in Nuremberg, Germany for 62 days and will continue in Berlin. Siyar Xelil was bid farewell by many Kurds and German people who gathered in the Medya People’s House.
“WE MUST TRANSLATE OUR EMOTION INTO CONSCIOUSNESS”
Xelil gave a short speech before his journey to Berlin and said:
“We will continue our hunger strike in Berlin from now on. We had been resisting here for 2 months, a spirit of resistance developed here. We must not approach this matter with emotion, we must translate our emotion into consciousness. The fate of the hunger strikers is in our people’s hands, in humanity’s hands. We must create this consciousness. Emotions will take us only so far, if this consciousness is not created, enemies of the Kurds will benefit. The enemy has been trying to break the resistance for a long time. We must insist on it.”
“THE LEADER TAUGHT US ABOUT RESISTANCE”
Xelil said they learned organizing and resistance from Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan and continued:
“The Leader did not teach us how to surrender, he taught us about freedom and resistance. We in return must organize, resist and break the tyranny imposed upon the Kurdish people. Everybody must organize more in this process and resist. We have promised the Leader, nobody can take our life away that easily or that early. We will resist as long as we have the strength to do so. This life does not belong to us, it belongs to the people. That is why we must defend it. We must resist for a long time so we prevail. Our friends in prisons resist under extremely harsh circumstances, we must keep the memory of our martyred friends alive and raise their struggle higher.”
