Hunger strikers’ families: We are proud of them

Cemal Kobane, Omer Bagdur, Mele Mustafa Tuzak and Siyar Xelil’s families visited them as they continue their hunger strike in Berlin, stating that they are proud of them.

The Berlin version of the hunger strikes demanding an end to the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan continues in the NAV-DEM offices as visitors continue to come.

The visitors hunger strikers received today were their families. The families came from various cities in Germany and called to increase the struggle to break the ongoing isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader in Imrali.

Members of the Tuzak, Xelil, Kobane and Bagdur families spoke with the activists for a while and then called on all who favor democracy and human rights, starting with the peoples of Kurdistan, to support the resistance. The families pointed out that the four activists continue their hunger strike with determination and said, “We are proud of you for your stance, our heads are held high thanks to you.”

BAGDUR: MY CALL IS FOR ALL MOTHERS

Omer Bagdur saluted all in the name of the hunger strikers and said they were glad for the visit, thanking everybody for travelling to Berlin. Bagdur said he is calling on Kurdish mothers in particular “because each mother should empathize with the prisoners here and think one day their child can also end up in prison to experience the same isolation.”

Bagdur said the resistance must be increased with the lead of mothers and continued: “We have full faith that we will achieve victory, because ours is a righteous struggle which we will continue until the end.” Hunger striker Siyar Xelil spoke afterwards and said: “Whatever the price may be, we will not stop our protest until we hear from Leader Apo, have no doubt.”

All four activists are experiencing severe health issues like heart spasms, vomiting and trouble breathing, but they refuse medical intervention. Mele Mustafa Tuzak’s hunger strike is on day 114, Siyar Xelil’s on 101 and Cemal Kobane and Omer Bagdur’s on 98.
