CYPRUS

A 4-day hunger strike was launched in front of the Limasol Municipality in Cyprus. Kurds set up a tent in front of the municipality and are demanding an end to the isolation imposed upon Öcalan and his freedom. The activists are also protesting the silence of the Council of Europe Committee for the Prevention of Torture and call on the committee to fulfill their responsibilities. The hunger strike will be concluded with a march on April 27.

Hunger strikes against the isolation of Öcalan continue in Marseilles in France, Hannover in Germany and Toronto in Canada.

MARSEILLES

The hunger strike demanding an end to the isolation of the Kurdish leader continues on its third day. The hunger strikers -Kurds and their friends- call for the freedom of Öcalan, accompanied by artistic performances by TEV-ÇAND, and presentations like the one yesterday evening which was about the life of Öcalan. 42 people are joining the protest action from Toulouse, Lyon, Marignane, Montpellier, Draguignan and Marseilles.

HANNOVER

The hunger strike calling for Öcalan’s freedom and urging the CPT to uphold its duty continues in Hannover city of Germany on its second day.

A member of Democratic Kurdish Society Centre who is also joining the hunger strike said the following; “Everyone should go into action in Europe and Kurdistan for the freedom of Öcalan. Actions muct expand, resistance must unite and the walls of Imralı must be torn down. Everyone should join the resistance for the elections and against the isolation.”

Activists saluted the hunger strike actions in Berlin, Bremen, Marseilles and Strasbourg, and lit candles to remember the victims of Armenian and Ezidi genocides. A march will be held in front of the Hannover train station at 17:00 today.

TORONTO

The hunger strike for Öcalan continues at the Democratic Kurdish Society Centre on its second day. 10 people including assembly co-chairs and members are joining the hunger strike, through which they call on the CPT to act for the Kurdish leader, and demand an end to the isolation imposed on Öcalan.

ROME

On the other hand, a demonstration in solidarity with Afrin was held in Viterbo district of Rome, capital city of Italy. Kurds and Italians joined the protest and called for unity against dictatorial regimes.
