Imprisoned ESP co-chair calls for resistance against occupation

The imprisoned co-chair of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed, Deniz Aktaş, said: "All our working people must resist poverty, war policies, femicides, the system of exploitation, and occupation."

Deniz Aktaş, the co-chair of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP), was sent to Marmara Prison No. 9. She sent a message to press institutions from prison, saying that the aim of the operation against her party was to silence the revolutionary-democratic movement. She added: “We know that the decisions for detention and arrests against us are not made in the courts but in the Palace [government]. We were arrested because of our participation in protests and events, the struggle for justice we carried out in the streets, and our daily political activities.”

Deniz Aktaş added: "Socialists who defended every protest and activity they participated in at the trials have shown that these attacks will not succeed. We confronted these attacks together, and we will face the consequences together. All working-class people and the oppressed must take a step forward in the struggle and become active. They must fight against poverty, war policies, femicides, exploitation, and the system of occupation. As for us, we will continue our struggle from Silivri Prison. I salute everyone who faced this attack in the streets, stood with us through their statements and messages. Together, with united resistance, we will prevail."
