The İmralı delegation of the HDP, which carries out the peace talks in Turkey, has offered condolences for 26 guerrillas and negotiator Jairo Martinez who were killed in a bombardment launched by the Colombian army in Cauca region of the country on 21 May.
İmralı delegation offered its condolences for the 26 FARC guerrillas and negotiator Jairo Martinez to the FARC and the Colombian people in a written statement, which drew attention to the fact that a negotiation process must be under the insurance of the equal responsibility of both parties. The statement said the mentioned responsibility concerns not only the national but also the international scope and stressed that the Colombian government as one of the parties of the negotiation process must ensure the trial of those responsible for this massacre.
The statement of the İmralı delegation said establishing a dignified peace in both Colombia and Turkey is now a duty for loyalty to the memory of comrade Martinez and all the others.
“We, as the delegation carrying out the negotiations for the peace of Turkey’s peoples, declare hereby once again that we will continue to struggle in all the peace processes pursued in the world for the preservation of non-conflict, justice and above all human dignity. We offer respect to all the comrades of ours who fell during their struggle for peace”, said the statement, which concluded: “As said by Jacabo Arenas, ‘Colombia’s fate might not be war’, Turkey’s fate is not war either.”
