Imralı Delegation: We will be on vigil until the isolation of Öcalan is ended
HDP's Imralı Delegation joined the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Amed demanding freedom for the Kurdish leader and an end to the isolation imposed upon him.
HDP's Imralı Delegation joined the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Amed demanding freedom for the Kurdish leader and an end to the isolation imposed upon him.
The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil launched in the main Kurdish city Amed against the aggravated isolation of the Kurdish leader continues on its eight day.
Hundreds of people are partaking in the vigil which was also joined by İmralı Delegation members HDP MPs Sırrı Süreyya Önder and İdris Baluken, HDP Amed MP Feleknas Uca, DBP-HDP provincial and district executives Saturday evening.
Speaking here on behalf of the Imralı Delegation, HDP MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder said that; “The atrocity suffered in this geography for the past one year has become visible all around the country with 15 July's coup attempt. Mr. Öcalan had indicated such a coup attempt back during our meetings on İmralı. His evaluations couldn't be appraised well enough. The message to be taken from his evaluations is a true democracy which could have been attained by making use of the process he had started.”
'PEACE AND DEMOCRACY IN OUR POWER'
Recalling that the aggravated isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullahh Öcalan had been removed as a result of the massive hunger strike three years ago, Önder said such a struggle has re-begun today for the same purpose with the initiative of the people. He added; "We respect and thank this decision taken by our people. Let's never forget that peace and democracy is in our power."
'ISOLATION MUST BE ENDED AND RESOLUTION PROCESS MUST BE RE-INITIATED'
Speaking after, HDP Group Deputy Co-chair İdris Baluken emphasised that Öcalan had anticipated the developments in Shengal, Kobanê, Rojava and Turkey, and put forward his proposals as to what needed to be done against the pro-coup mechanism in Turkey during the 2,5 years of talks on İmralı.
Baluken said those who couldn't understand and interpret this historic evaluation ended the process of talks, which resulted in the activation of the coup mechanism and waste of the democracy to be realized through Öcalan's perspective.
Baluken remarked that Öcalan was re-subject to isolation as of April 5 but not freed of it although he had foreseen the coup mechanism and highlighted proposals to obstruct it.
"Mr. Öcalan must be enabled to lead this process under equal and free circumstances. His isolation must be ended and the resolution process must be resumed at once", he added.
'PEOPLE SHOULD RECLAIM THE VIGIL UNTIL THE ISOLATION ENDS'
Baluken underlined that efforts were being made to eliminate the will of the Kurdish people in the person of Öcalan through the 'collapse plan' of the government.
He added; "It has come to light today that the collapse plan has failed in Sur, Gever, Nusaybin, Şırnak and Manbij. AKP and Erdoğan should initiate a brave confrontation for the attainment of peace in the entire region. Approach towards the Kurdish people should be treated as approach towards Mr. Öcalan. We will make an effort to end this isolation and guarantee free conditions for Mr. Öcalan. We call upon all our people to join the historic vigil until the isolation is broken."
