International conference on mass graves

Monday and Tuesday Diyarbakýr will host a conference about mass graves. Almost every day for months a new mass grave is discovered. In Dersim a mother and son are on hunger strike for over forty days: they asked for the mass grave where they believed their son and brother is buried together with others to be opened. But they can't get permission to excavate the grave. And they have decided to sit in the main square of Dersim fasting until their right to have their beloved body back.

The conference in Diyarbakýr will be important because of the issues it will address. Organized by the Association of the family and friends of the disappeared (YAKAY-DER) and by the Mesopotamia association of the family and friends of the disappeared (MEYA-DER), the conference is called "The reality of mass graves in Turkey". The conference will take place in the Cegerxwin Culture and Art Centre and will be attended by international association of relatives of the disappeared around the world.
