International delegation denied access to mass grave

MEYA-DER (association of relatives of the disappeared people), Peace Mothers Initiative, Van Women Association have joined a delegation of 36 people from Germany and set off to visit the mass grave where 41 PKK members including German sociologist Andrea Wolf are buried in Çatak district of Van. Soldiers stopped the delegation at Narlý Military Station.

Upon the notification of a military official that the delegation will not be allowed on the ground of “security” instruction issued by the Governor, German parliamentarian Andrej Hunko asked to be allowed on a phone call with the Governor who refused the demand and hung up on the parliamentarian. Commenting the situation as a scandal, Hunko stated that they will report the situation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany.

About 60 people including Van IHD , Mazlum-Der administrators and the German delegation, are reported to be waiting at Narlý Military Station.
