Diyarbakır Bar Association President Nahit Eren and members of the Board of Directors welcomed the Delegation of International Lawyers Against Isolation on Thursday.
Bar Association President Nahit Eren answered the questions of the delegation.
The delegation said that they were following the trial of imprisoned journalist Dicle Müftüoğlu and asked what kind of difficulties they experienced in political cases.
Nahit Eren stated that the judiciary's perspective on political cases is parallel to the government's perspective on the Kurdish question.
Eren said, "When there is a moderate process on the Kurdish question, the judiciary also becomes moderate. When the process becomes harsh, the judiciary also becomes harsh."
The President of the Diyarbakır Bar Association stated that there is a different, more "special" judicial element in political cases and that there are "special" courts.
"The approach to these case files also changes the perspective of the lawyers and the defense," Eren said, emphasizing that Diyarbakır Bar Association is the most accused bar association, with the most members detained, arrested and put on trial.
Eren added that 85 lawyers from the bar association are currently on trial.
While the international delegation's visit to Amed has come to an end, the delegation will continue its meetings in Istanbul tomorrow.
