In Germany, dozens of activists consisting of German, Kurdish, Catalan and Spanish internationalists, have been staging a long march for 8 days now under the motto “The Time Has Come, Freedom for Öcalan”. In a joint press release in the city of Freiburg, the activists today condemned the Turkish state's invasion attack on the Gare region in the Medya Defense Zones in Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq).
The statement made in Kurdish, Turkish and German pointed out that the aim of the Gare operation is to continue Kurdish massacres. "This attack coincides with the anniversary of the international conspiracy against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the date of Sheikh Said's capture, which clearly reveals the intention of the Turkish state."
Citing the massacres committed by the AKP-MHP fascist government in Cizre, Sur, Nusaybin, Afrin and Serêkaniyê, the statement continued; “The Gare attack is not an ordinary and simple aggression. This attack is not only against the freedom struggle of the Kurdish people led by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), but also against the existence, free and democratic life of the entire Kurdish people. This attack is also aimed for eliminating all the gains of the peoples of Kurdistan, especially in Rojava and Southern Kurdistan."
Referring to the role of the KDP, the statement said; "According to the HPG statement the attacks are not coordinated by Turkey but by Southern Kurdistan and the KDP. Statements made by the KDP officials over the past few days confirm this. Obviously, we are seriously worried that the KDP acts in support of invasion and attack, rather than the national unity of the Kurds. The KDP should know that the PKK and its guerrillas are not the only concern of the Turkish state. Even if the PKK does not exist, this mentality still attacks Southern Kurdistan. Erdogan's only concern is to occupy all of Kurdistan with a neo-Ottoman mentality. This occupation can end only with the paradigm of Leader Apo (Öcalan), the philosopher of the new age. Millions of people who see this philosophy as an emancipation are standing up in Asia, Europe, South America and the Middle East today. Those who are in action demanding the freedom of Leader Apo should oppose the occupation of the Turkish state in solidarity with the Kurdish people."
'WE SALUTE THE GUERILLA'S RESISTANCE'
Pointing out that the Kurds can resist this attack only by acting together, the activists said, “Today, support for the Kurdish freedom struggle in the international arena is greater than ever before. Our march is an outcome of this. That is why Kurdish organizations and parties should realize their national unity and act in a common spirit against all attacks coming from outside.”
Internationalists concluded their statements with the following call: “We, the participants of the march ‘Condemning the International Conspiracy and Freedom for Öcalan’, as German, Kurdish, Spanish and Catalan youth, call on all segments of the society, socialists, revolutionaries, ecologists and feminists in the world to stand on the side of the guerrillas of the democratic, ecological, women's libertarian paradigm who are resisting invasion in Gare."
