Iranian operation against PJAK continues
The expanded operation of the Iranian army along the border line has been responded to with the harsh actions of the guerilla. A military station between Sardasht and Mahabad was demolished by the guerrillas of PJAK's armed wing HRK (Eastern Kurdistan Defence Forces) yesterday.
According to HRK sources, guerillas carried out an attack on the Zimzara police station on July 23. While the station was demolished completely, many Iranian soldiers were reported killed as a result of the conflict. HRK is expected to make a statement about the clash.
Meanwhile, the operation and military build-up of the Iranian army has continued since July 16. While at least 5 villagers were injured in the Iranian bombardment, eight guerillas lost their lives. The Iranian army is reported to have a loss of 150-180 soldiers so far, including three generals and 10 high ranking commanders.
