ISIS attacks broken, plans voided in Raqqa: Spokesperson

Wrath of Euphrates Action Room Spokesperson Cihan Sheikh Ehmed said, “The heroic resistance by our forces broke the gangs’ attacks and voided their plans.”

Wrath of Euphrates Action Room Spokesperson Cihan Sheikh Ehmed issued a written statement on the latest developments in the Operation to Liberate Raqqa and announced that clashes broke out and continued for 3 days in the eastern part of Raqqa and the Al Mashlab neighborhood in the city center.

Spokesperson Sheikh Ehmed said the 3 day long clashes resulted in heavy blows to the gangs by the SDF fighters and many were killed in clashes. Ehmed continued: “Some 100 gang members crossed the Euphrates River from the areas controlled by the Syrian regime and their allies. These attacks revealed hidden things. How the attack plans were made was revealed, the relationship to sleeper cells was revealed. Those who have had a hand in these attacks have been revealed.”

Cihan Sheikh Ehmed stated that the attacks have revealed the foundations of many secrets and stressed that the sleeper cells have been defeated.

Raqqa campaign spokesperson said the gang members crossed over disguised in SDF clothing and continued: “They thus wanted to break the siege against the gangs stuck in the Raqqa city center. The heroic resistance of our forces has broken the attack plans and voided their plans. Many documents and maps in the plan, a large number of weapons and ammunition and 5 vehicles (2 of them fitted with explosives) were confiscated by the fighters.”

Sheikh Ehmed also underlined that 28 fighters were martyred during their heroic resistance against the gang attacks.
