ISIS members threaten Alevis in Antep

The neighborhood of Düztepe in Antep, which houses a large Alevi population as well as Hacı Bektaş Veli Association of Solidarity and Cemevi (Alevi place of worship), is under the threat of ISIS gangs.

ISIS members have threatened the Alevi people living in Antep with death.

According to a report by Turkish daily Birgün, the neighborhood of Düztepe, which houses a large Alevi population as well as Hacı Bektaş Veli Association of Solidarity and Cemevi (Alevi place of worship), is under the threat of ISIS gangs.

'WE HAVE NO SECURITY OF LIFE'

A neighborhood resident who asked to be mentioned anonymous said they have no security of life as gang members living in ISIS's cell houses across the city could attack them anytime.

ISIS THREAT IS NOT NEW

In a previous incident in the city, two ISIS members raided the workplace of a former HDP executive in Şahinbey district, and pointed a gun at his head. During the same days, executives of DBP district organisation were also threatened with death by an ISIS group.

THE STATE REMAINS SILENT ON THREATS BY ISIS

ISIS gangs had also threatened and blacklisted the Alevi people living in Adıyaman. Entering a village dressed as carpet salesmen, gang members asked the people "How many Alevi villages are there in Adıyaman?".

Despite the fact that people of Adıyaman informed state authorities upon the increase of similar threats, not a single investigation has been started into the incidents while Alevi people in the city started to hold vigil in front of their houses.
