Kaplan: Arrests of BDP mayors planned by AKP

In a press release in the Parliament, Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) group deputy chairman Hasip Kaplan said that the recent arrest of mayors and BDP members in Van had been planned during the central executive committee meeting of the ruling Justice and Development Party.

The current process said Kaplan is as bad as the situation in the 90’s, Kaplan underlined that almost all elected Kurdish politicians have been put in prison by the AKP government.

Kaplan reminded that eight deputies have been jailed for one year now and underlined that “This is a shame of democracy, the AKP and the Turkish Parliament.” Pointing out that KCK operations target legal and democratic areas, Kaplan said the followings;

“Everything except for being a member of the AKP and obeying it is forbidden in this country. By means of immoral ways of attack, the AKP has declared the 51 percent of this country enemy to itself. The AKP government under the leadership of Erdoðan, who doesn’t give up racist and hate speeches, is made up of people who maintain their power through deaths and don’t account before the public for the crimes against humanity they have committed.”

Referring to recent news on elective Kurdish courses at schools, Kaplan said that; “Did the Prime Minister learn Turkish as an elective course at school? The Kurdish language should be used in education in the same way the Turkish language is used. This is one of the unquestionable global rights of the 21st century.”

Our demand is to have Kurdish as the language of education because of the fact that the solution of the Kurdish problem should start with solving the language problem, underlined Kaplan and added that Republican People’s Party (CHP) Leader Kemal Kýlýçdaroðlu should also consider the problem from this point of view.
