Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Group Deputy Chairman Hasip Kaplan criticized the so-called KCK operation against KESK union and its members. Kaplan, speaking in front of KESK central office where police search still continues since early morning, evaluated the Ankara centered operation on Monday as the repression of Kurds even within the unions.
"We face an alarming situation as almost all executives have been taken into custody in the ethnic operation", underlined Kaplan and pointed out that the AKP government has been trying to intimidate organized circles of the society.
Kaplan, after examining the courts decision for the operation and detentions, noted that the preparations for the operation had already been made in 2011 and remarked it is not coincidental that the operation was carried out in a process of conflict with Syria over the Turkish jet which was shot down by Syrian forces.
Kaplan added that the BDP will take the operation to the table of the parliament.
On the other hand, KESK General Secretary Ýsmail Hakký Tombul made a statement and announced that 65 members of the union have been taken into custody up to now within the scope of todays operation which still continues with police search in KESK central office. Tombul said that the number of detainees, who are made up of Kurdish citizens, is expected to increase on the advancing hours.
BDP Group Deputy Chairman Hasip Kaplan, BDP Muþ deputy Demir Çelik, CHP Deputy Chairman Sezgin Tanrýkulu, ÝHD General President Öztürk Türkdoðan, TMMOB and DÝSK representatives are waiting in front of KESK central office to protest against the raid and operation.
KESK will organize a march in Kýzýlay square of capital city Ankara this evening to protest the operation.
