Karayilan: no war between PKK guerrillas and peshmerga

In an interview to Rudaw newspaper, KCK Executive Council President Murat Karayýlan stated that there would be no war between the guerrilla and peshmerga, remarking that the ground for a new conflict among Kurds had been removed. “I have confidence in Kurdish politicians and their words in this regard” said Karayýlan.

Karayýlan underlined that Regional Kurdistan President Mesud Barzani is working for a peaceful solution to the problem in North Kurdistan and added that “We consider these efforts as significant and we demand a profound solution through the way of politics and dialogue.”

Indicating that Prime Minister Erdoðan had refused the protocols presented by PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Karayýlan noted that Mr. Barzani and some sides now wanted the re-initiation of a political process, after five years with negotiations which -he notified- were conducted with the Turkish state through some friends in the first two years and directly in the following three years.

Talking about the ceasefire between PJAK and Iran, KCK Executive Council President Karayýlan said that “Both sides continue to obey the ceasefire. This is a good situation appreciated by our side.”

Karayýlan ended his speech by commenting on the Basque liberation organization ETA’s decision to permanently end armed struggle and said it was a “correct and positive decision”. Karayýlan underlined the positive attitude of the Spanish government in this regard and remarked that the PKK would “lay weapons down” if Turkey also recognized the rights of Kurds to self-governance.
