Following the latest reports on the intensified use of chemical weapons by the Turkish army in Kurdistan, the Kurdish Democratic Societies Congress in Europe (KCDK-E) is calling for immediate protest actions. The Kurdish federation urges human rights organisations and international bodies such as the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) to take a position on Turkey's war crimes.
"The Turkish occupation forces are committing a massacre with chemical weapons at the Werxelê mountain massif in the southern Kurdish region of Avaşîn. This crime takes place before the eyes of the world. The chemical agents used by the Turkish army against the freedom guerrillas cause nervous system failure, respiratory paralysis and memory loss. They are lethal and an inhuman crime that cannot be tolerated by anyone.
We call on our people and all people who consider themselves revolutionary, democratic and progressive to take a stand and denounce these crimes. As KCDK-E, we call on our people everywhere to take urgent action to demand human rights organisations and international institutions such as the OPCW to fulfil their duty and responsibility. The Turkish state is targeting genocide and its bloody face must be made visible everywhere," the KCDK-E statement said.
