The co-chairs of the Democratic Kurdish Societies Congress in Europe (KCDK-E) released a written statement regarding the aggression launched by the Iraqi army against the local security and defense forces of the Yazidi people in the Şengal (Sinjar) district of southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

The statement released on Monday includes the following:

"The Iraqi army has started an invasion attack against Şengal with heavy weapons and tanks at the request of the Turkish state and became a partner to the annihilation policies targeting the Kurds. The invasion attempt against Şengal is a concerted action with the attacks of the genocidal Turkish state and the treacherous KDP.

Sacred places, places of worship, hospitals, schools and civilian settlements are all in serious jeopardy. The attacks leave Yazidis face to face with a new massacre.

The silence of the international powers is tantamount to allowing these attacks and massacres and becoming a partner. International conventions are being violated.

ISIS cells and their supporters are also waiting for an opportunity to attack Şengal.

The situation escalated after Masrour Barzani called upon the Iraqi administration to send troops to Şengal October 27, 2021.

'KURDS SHOULD TAKE TO STREETS'

The cowardly Iraqi army and the treacherous Barzani Family who escaped from ISIS have long been a trouble for the people of Şengal. Our Yazidi Kurdish people are currently facing new genocides. In order to prevent a new massacre in the Yazidi land, all Kurds should take to the streets and embrace Şengal.

As the KCDK-E, we call on all humanity and our people to urgently frustrate these barbaric genocidal plans. Let's protect Şengal by expanding the resistance everywhere against a new Yazidi genocide.”
